Terms of Sale and Licence

Last updated: 6 November 2026

These terms apply when you buy, download or use an ebook, guide or other digital product from Get Started Medicine at getstartedmed.com. Please read them. They include important information about your licence, your consumer rights, and the limits of our clinical content.

1. About us

Get Started Medicine is a trading name of Heysailor Pty Ltd (ABN 35 698 138 162), Tasmania, Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”).

Contact: [email protected] for everything, including orders, downloads, refunds and errors in a book, except legal and privacy matters, which go to [email protected].

2. These terms

2.1 By buying or downloading a product, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy.

2.2 We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applied when you bought a product governs that purchase. Changes to licence restrictions will not reduce the rights you already have in a product you’ve bought.

3. Our products

3.1 We sell digital publications (“products”): ebooks in PDF and EPUB formats, in Australian and UK editions. We also offer free samples and free guides.

3.2 Our products are educational orientation guides for qualified doctors and senior medical students. They are not medical advice, they are not a substitute for local guidelines, formularies, supervision or clinical judgement, and they are not intended for patients or the public. See section 9 and our Medical Disclaimer.

3.3 Each product shows its edition, version and clinical review date. Make sure you choose the edition for the country you work in.

4. Ordering and payment

4.1 Payments are processed by Stripe through its Managed Payments service. At checkout you buy “through Link”, which acts as the merchant of record for the payment. Link collects payment and any applicable GST, VAT or sales tax, and sends your receipt and tax invoice. Link’s own terms apply to the payment transaction.

4.2 Prices are shown in AUD, GBP or another currency and include GST/VAT where applicable. If the checkout converts the price into your local currency, the converted price is shown before you pay.

4.3 Your card statement will show LINK.COM* GETSTARTEDMED.

4.4 A contract for your licence is formed when payment is confirmed. We may refuse or cancel an order before delivery, for example if a price was clearly wrong. If we do, you’ll get a full refund.

5. Delivery

5.1 Products are delivered digitally. After payment we email you a link to your library, where you can download your products at any time while your account is active.

5.2 Each file you download is personalised with your email address and an order reference (a “watermark”).

5.3 If a download doesn’t work, contact [email protected] and we’ll fix it or refund you.

6. Your licence

6.1 When you buy a product, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download, store, read and print it for your own professional learning and reference, on any number of devices you personally use.

6.2 You must not:

6.3 Institutional licences (for hospitals, training programs and educators) are available under a separate agreement. Contact [email protected].

6.4 Free samples and free guides are licensed on the same terms, except that you may share the free guide’s download page link.

6.5 We may suspend or end your licence and library access if you materially breach section 6.2. This doesn’t affect any rights you have under consumer law.

7. Updates and corrections

7.1 We review each title at least every 12 months and correct errors when we find them. While a title is on sale, updated versions are free to existing buyers through your library. We’ll email you when a new version is available.

7.2 We may withdraw a title from sale (for example, if it is overdue for clinical review). If we do, you keep access to the versions you have already downloaded, and you can still download them from your library unless we’ve withdrawn a version for safety reasons. In that case we’ll tell you why.

7.3 Please report errors to [email protected] or through the “Report an error” form.

8. Cancellations and refunds

8.1 Our Refund Policy gives you a 14-day no-questions refund on single titles. This is in addition to your rights under consumer law.

8.2 UK and EU customers: you have a statutory right to cancel a digital content contract within 14 days. Because our products are delivered immediately, at checkout we ask you to agree to immediate access and to acknowledge that you lose this statutory cancellation right once the download begins. Our voluntary 14-day refund in the Refund Policy still applies.

8.3 When a refund is processed, your licence to that product ends and it is removed from your library. You must delete any copies you have downloaded.

9. Clinical content and limitation of liability

9.1 Our products are prepared with care and clinically reviewed on the date shown, but medicine changes and practice varies between hospitals and regions. You are responsible for your own clinical decisions. Always follow your local guidelines, policies and formulary, and check any medicine, dose and route before prescribing or giving it. If in doubt, ask a senior colleague.

9.2 Australian consumers: our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights.

9.3 UK consumers: you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including that digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

9.4 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

9.5 Subject to sections 9.2–9.4, and to the extent permitted by law:

10. Intellectual property

All content in our products, including text, layout, diagrams, cover designs and the Get Started Medicine name and logo, is owned by or licensed to Get Started Medicine and protected by copyright and other laws. Apart from your licence in section 6, no rights are transferred to you.

11. Accounts and email

11.1 Your library is linked to the email address you use at checkout. Keep access to that email secure, because login links are sent to it.

11.2 We send service emails about your purchases (delivery, updates, safety corrections). These aren’t marketing emails, and we send them whether or not you subscribe to marketing.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal information.

13. Governing law and disputes

13.1 These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tasmania.

13.2 If you are a consumer living in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you also benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

13.3 Please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve any problem quickly.

14. General

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. We may transfer our rights and obligations to a successor business, without reducing your rights. A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
