The books
What formats do I get?
Two files: a phone PDF, laid out for a phone screen so there’s no pinching and zooming, and an EPUB for Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, or Kindle through Send to Kindle. You can download both as often as you need (up to 20 times a day per title).
How do I keep it on my phone?
iPhone: open the PDF, tap Share, then Save to Files or open it in Books. Android: download the PDF and open it from Files, or add the EPUB to Google Play Books. Once saved, it opens without signal.
Do the books give drug doses?
No. They show you how to think through a problem and point you to your local protocols and formulary. Local guidance always wins.
Which edition should I get?
Get the edition for the country you work in. The Australian Edition uses Australian roles, terms, systems and support services; the UK Edition uses UK ones. The core advice is the same.
Who writes and checks them?
Every title is edited and clinically reviewed by Dr Nick McIntosh, BMedSci MBBS(Hons), Emergency Medicine Senior Registrar (ACEM), and checked at least every 12 months. Found an error? Email [email protected].
Buying
How do I pay?
Checkout is run by Stripe. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. You don’t need to create an account or a Link account.
Why does my statement say LINK.COM?
Stripe processes our payments through Link, which acts as the merchant of record: it handles the tax and sends your receipt and tax invoice. Your statement will show LINK.COM* GETSTARTEDMED.
What currency will I pay in?
Australian buyers pay in Australian dollars and UK buyers in pounds, with GST or VAT included. Elsewhere, checkout may offer your local currency.
Can I use a discount code?
Yes, if you have one: tap “Add promotion code” at checkout. Only one discount applies per order.
Are the books on Kindle?
Where a title is also on Amazon Kindle, it’s sold there separately. Buying here gets you both the phone PDF and the EPUB, and every future version free in your library.
After you buy
Where are my books?
In your library. We email you a sign-in link straight after you buy. Later, sign in with the email address you used at checkout: we send a link, so there’s no password.
Do I get updates?
Yes, free. Each title is reviewed at least once a year. When a new version comes out, it replaces the old one in your library and we email you.
Why is my email address on the file?
Your copy is personalised to you, with your email address and order reference. Please don’t share it: send friends to getstartedmed.com instead.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Email [email protected] within 14 days of buying and we’ll refund you in full, no questions asked. See the Refund Policy.
Something isn’t working
